Tecmo Home Game

Last weekend TecmoSuperBowl hosted a home game at his place. BigBadBabar and I attended and got to meet Tecmo, tubasteve, and three others (I do not use real names on this blog and they have no online handle that I know of). We decided to play 8 game (the games in a normal HORSE rotation plus NL, PLO and Deuce-to-Seven Triple Draw), with two rounds of each game. Since one person was dealing (which he was very good at) that amounted to 12 hands of each game. The limit games were 2/4 and the big bet games were 0.50/1 blinds.
We quickly found out that some games take longer than others and might use a timed format in the future. For example, it quickly became apparent that no one really knew how to play Stud high. I think we went the entire rotation and only saw 4th street once. That rotation probably didn’t take even 15 minutes. At the same time, LHE, O8, and to a lesser extent Razz all ended up having pretty good action and those rounds certainly took longer.
Personally, I continued my Razz incompetence. There was a DeucesCracked online home game a while back where I literally had to type into chat, ‘are aces high or low in this game?’ I was serious. No one answered me (jerks). Anyway, for all the Stud games the bring in was 1…there was a Razz hand where it got raised to 2, and I tried to re-raise to 3 (re-raise FAIL).
One other highlight was in the LHE round. BBB opened the hijack, the button cold called, and I cool called the small blind. What’s funny is that BBB and I have talked about this sort of spot before and he knows that I would sometimes play a monster this way (depending on the line up and such). He gave me the oddest look and then started laughing. Unfortunately nothing interesting happened in the hand, but I do feel my preflop play was at least reasonable if not correct.
Actually, the only thing I would change would be the farting dog. Tecmo’s dog is really a sweetheart – she’s energetic and affectionate, but she also has a very odd tendency to run up to where the game’s going and then drop a BOMB. She did this on multiple occasion, once clearing the table – some guys ran to open windows and Tecmo searched out some Febreze. Honestly, it’s like Tecmo trained her to do that just to get everyone else off their game.

LOL, she doesn’t normally do that! Thanks for coming and I’ll let you know how the timed format works out for next time
